Habitat Westside is asking women to learn construction skills over Mother’s Day weekend as a means of gaining self-reliance, performing a community service and having a little fun.
The local chapter of Habitat for Humanity is joining with the national organization and its partnership with Lowe’s to celebrate National Women Build Week with a home building project from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10 at 543 M St.
Women volunteers have helped construct more than 2,200 Habitat houses nationwide. Locally, Habitat Westside volunteers have contributed to building about five houses through the Women Build program.
