Members of the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity last week spoke to the Community Resource Council about their organization's latest endeavor.
Sandy Lemas and Bob Hart of Habitat Westside on May 12 told the CRC about the progress the group is making in buying and renovating homes for people on the lower end of the economic scale. Habitat was given $1 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program funding by the city to help get some of the foreclosed homes in Los Baños off the market. The money is part of $2.4 million in federal dollars that was provided to Los Baños through the state government in 2009. The purpose of the funding is to ease the local foreclosure problem.
